IPSC

Hello fellow shooting enthusiasts!

Welcome to the Woodstock Pistol and Rifle Club IPSC Committee. By now, most have likely heard of IPSC, the International Practical Shooting Confederation.

Exciting; challenging; and FUN, IPSC is a dynamic shooting sport where the principles of Accuracy, Speed and Power are balanced in a unique scoring system. IPSC has defined Action Shooting. It requires competitors to shoot fast and accurately, often shooting on the move and developing techniques and styles to shave off fractions of a second between shots, during reloads and drawing from the holster. IPSC Canada is the governing body for our sport in Canada.

In order to compete in IPSC matches in Canada, successful completion of the Black Badge Safety Training Course is necessary.

  • The Black Badge course teaches a combination of safety, proficiency, and understanding of the rules. The progression of skills will be learned by:
Reading the materials that are provided with this course.
Observing techniques demonstrated by the instructor.
Doing the techniques under the close supervision of the instructor.
  • The emphasis of the Black Badge course is safety. Recognizing this, many other clubs and organizations use the Black Badge course as their standard for training or in lieu of their own training program. Even if you never shoot an IPSC match, you will benefit significantly from this specialized training program.
